Was Yashaya really hung from a tree instead of crucified on a cross?

Having read the Essene Gospel completely, I notice that Yashaya was hung from a tree instead of the biblical version witch states he was crucified on a cross.

Is this true? What research was done to verify this?

The Essene Gospel of Christ was written by a freemason. Mortekai exposed it in one of his videos. He has distanced himself from the Essene Gospel even though he used to promote it in the past.

About the tree, I don't know. Some scriptures in the KJV Bible refer to a tree. Acts 5:30 “The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.”

But there are other scriptures that refer to a cross. Matthew 10:38 “And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.”
So I am not sure if it was a cross or a tree.
